NHS - Become A Member

This was an exercise in Harry's Motion Graphics class where we had to practice title sequences. This was the first time I had done something like this so enjoyed it. We could experiment ways in which we wanted the text to come on screen. For example, from the side or dropping down on screen and so on. I found this relatively easy to do. We used Lightwave to do this. This was the first time using this software so it took me a while to understand what the tools did but once I found out what tools did what, it was quite simple and I found it easier to play around on the software. If I was to do this again I'd be able to add more complicated sequences and change how the text comes on screen as I'd be more confident using the software.

NHS - Become A Member.

Our brief for this assignment was to work for the NHS Salford Royal and create a short film. Our task was to promote the hospial itself and to base it around becoming a member. We wasn't allowed to use sound so we had to make sure the message came across well enough through body language and facial expressions. We experienced some problems with filming as the hospital was obviously busy so people were looking at the camera making it obvious but over all I think the edit is quite clean. If we was to do this again we'd probably practice the acting side of it more so it looks more believable.

Paul Rossington Film Studies - Magazine double page spread.

This was the first proper assignment we had to complete in film studies. This was created using a Photoshop template. We gathered the information by analysing four films. We then had to write up our work and make it into the above article. It was my first time creating a magazine layout on Photoshop so I think the over all design could be a little bit better but I'm happy with the outcome. If I was to do it again I'd also change the font and colour of the font as at times it's not the easiest to read. I found this to be quite an easy assignment as I already had most of the information so I just had to spend most of my time on the layout. As I've had previous experience on Photoshop, I knew how to make the images fit without them looking stretched out.

Summary
I am extremely interested in fashion and constantly changing my look. I like to add a bit of a twist to the clothes that are on trend. I think slightly standing out from the crowd and having character can be fun. I’m extremely outgoing and like meeting new people. I feel I can work from my own initiative and as part of a team. As I’m currently a media student, I have developed communication skills as I’ve had to take part in things such as interviewing people and asking them to fill out surveys as well as asking their personal opinions on things in the industry today.

Final Short Film Edit

For my IG3 project, I had to create a short film of my choice. We worked in groups of five and six. The choice of genre was slapstick comedy. I found this relatively easy to do but finding the right days to all of the group was able to film was tricky. I liked the editing side of the project because we could experiment with the colour and pick the proffered one. We all made our own edit. My film is around two minutes long and I feel it looks quite good and I've done it to the best of my ability. Due to previous experience with Premier I felt quite comfortable using the software and feel that enabled me to get the work done quicker and more precisely. The main problems we encountered was the days filming, however other than that we stuck to our deadlines for such things as our script and planning.

Devil Rides Out Title Sequence

This was one of the first times I used Adobe After Effects for something like this. This video is called Devil Rides Out and is a sort of opening title. To do this we had to follow a tutorial and do it step by step. It took more time to do than first anticipated as some of the shapes didn't come together at the right time but I've now fixed that. I like how everything comes in at a different time and then all pieces together at the end.
